Birdhouses of Kutch

In the arid landscapes of Kutch, Gujarat, a remarkable tradition flourishes—the crafting of intricate birdhouses, known locally as chabutras or chabutros. These structures, often elevated on pillars, serve as communal feeding and nesting spaces for birds, reflecting a deep-seated cultural ethos of coexistence and compassion for all living beings.
